AUDITION INFORMATION
- Auditions: Tue. April 8th & Wed. April 9th
- 4:30-8:30pm
- **Mon. April 7th from 12:00-1:00pm
- **This is reserved for any Ames High student who wishes to audition, but has a Mary Poppins conflict. Everyone else must sign up for a time slot on Tue. or Wed.
- Callbacks: April 10th, as needed

- Approximately 35 roles available for ages 9-18
- 10 crew members needed (ages 12-18)
Rehearsals-
- April 12–May 31
- 4:30-6:45 Tue/Thu and 10:00-12:45 Sat.
- From June 2-6, rehearsals every weekday evening.

- June 20 & 27 at 7:00PM
- June 21, 22, 28, & 29 at 2:00PM

AUDITION GUIDELINES
- You must be 9-18 years old at the time of auditions to be considered for a role, and 12-18 years old to be on the crew.
- Fill out an online form and attach a headshot picture.
- Wear clothes and shoes that allow you to move easily.
- You will audition with a small group, and will be at your audition for about one hour. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early for your audition time.
- For the audition, please prepare and memorize one song and one monologue from the options provided below.
- There will also be a short dance portion of the audition, which you will learn while you are there.
The participation fee for Descendants is $175 for cast members and $65 for crew members. The participation fee covers professional theatrical instruction, a show T-shirt, keepsake poster, cast/crew party, and, when possible, a video recording of the show.
Scholarship assistance is available for those who may need help covering the participation fee. A scholarship request form will be accessible to all cast and crew members in the Audition form and Crew application. Scholarship applications do not affect casting decisions.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Internships are available upon interest: Work with the production team during the entire process. Join the production meetings. Learn additional skills in the specific area of interest and be a part of the design process. Possible opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Hair and Makeup Intern
- Costume Intern
- Scenic Intern
- Props Intern

PRE-AUDITION WORKSHOP
We will be holding an optional audition workshop for this production on April 5th from 10:30am-12:00pm.

If you’re new to auditioning or not sure what to expect, you can come learn auditioning tips and FAQs from one of our experienced instructors. You may also sign up for an optional mock audition, if you’d like, to get some practice and feedback. Attendance at the workshop is not a requirement to audition or a guarantee of getting cast, just a helpful event. No pre-registration is required, but we do ask that you sign up if you’re interested in doing a mock audition, so we can plan enough time for everyone.
CHARACTER ROLES
MAL: Our hero and Maleficent’s daughter; under her hardened, sarcastic exterior, she has a sense of justice and a heart of gold.
EVIE: The Evil Queen Grimhilde’s daughter; hides her brilliance behind a superficial, image-obsessed attitude.
JAY: Jarfar’s son; an outwardly arrogant thief, he conceals a strategic, collaborative nature.
CARLOS: Cruella de Vil’s son; despite a fear of dogs and just about everything else, he has the capacity to be brave and kind.
MALEFICENT: The infamous evil fairy; a profoundly selfish absentee parent with an unquenchable taste for vengeance.
GRIMHILDE: Snow White’s wicked adversary; an aging beauty queen, still desperate to be the fairest of them all.
JAFAR: Aladdin’s nemesis; a slimy, washed-up crime lord desperate for a way back to the top.
CRUELLA DE VIL: A Dalmatian-loving dog-snatcher; an obsessive, eccentric, and overbearing helicopter mom.
BEN: The son of the Beast and Belle; a classically regal, optimistic kid who bears the weight of soon becoming King of Auradon
KING BEAST: Ben’s father and King of Auradon; royal and rule-driven, he knows a bit about being marginalized.
QUEEN BELLE: Ben’s mother and Queen of Auradon; warm, but cautious, she doesn’t understand her son’s generation.
FAIRY GODMOTHER: Headmistress of Auradon Prep; busy and bubbly, she’ll do anything to keep the school afloat.
JANE: Fairy Godmother’s daughter; meek and mousy, but hungry for attention, she’s looking for her moment to shine.
CHAD: Cinderella and Prince Charming’s son; an arrogant and spoiled blockhead, he’s never wanted for anything.
AUDREY: Sleeping Beauty’s daughter; the malicious queen bee of Auradon Prep, she has her eye on the throne.
DOUG: Dopey’s son; nerdy and sweet, he does all the work that his fellow students don’t want to do.
ROYAL PAGE: Auradonian messenger; enormously nervous.
ROYAL GUARD: Museum employee; less than vigilant.
MAURICE: Chemistry teacher and Belle’s father; kooky and stuck in his ways.
COACH: Tourney coach; resigned to the team’s mediocrity until meeting a surprise star player.
SNOW WHITE: Red carpet reporter; the voice of the masses.

We encourage you to perform whichever song and monologue you like best and will best represent you as a performer; you do not need to focus too much on the characters listed.
